2021 Oregon
We drove straight through to Oregon to pick up three puppies, and I think this was in August 2021. The puppies came from a breeder in Roseburg, Oregon, who is part of the American Lapponian Herder Association. She drove out to meet us in Juntura, a very small town in the Oregon desert, and we picked them up there. We stayed in the van the whole way and carried only basic clothes.
We drove out from Roseville through North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. On the way back we went south through Idaho into Utah, then Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. We stopped for a nap in Nebraska, and it was very humid. Then we crossed Iowa into Illinois.
The first delivery was in Illinois, where one puppy went to Whispering Pines Reindeer Ranch in Shabbona. They sell Christmas trees and keep reindeer.
After that we went to Cambridge, Minnesota, to deliver the second puppy to Kuulas Kennels, and then home to Roseville, where we lived at the time. The third stayed with us. That was Lumi, who the breeder called Aphrodite.
